Tasting Notes:
A dry start to winter was later saved with a wet and cold late winter that was much needed. Above average temperatures in October and very little rain accelerated development of the bunches. With high temperatures in January, development slowed and in turn slowed the ripening to a very much preferred steady rate. Despite crop volume being lower than average, desirable small berries ensured good concentration of colour and flavour that is now expressed in the finished wines that are shaping up to be of outstanding quality.

This wine saw a wonderfully slow fermentation period of 8 days at 20 degrees. For good oak integration the wine was then transferred to oak to complete primary fermentation in both 2 and 3-year-old American and French oak barrels before maturation for a further 11 months. This wine will remain in barrel for a further 2-3 months at the discretion of Campbell our winemaker.

Nose: Interwoven red liquorice surrounded by deep rich dark berry fruits and a hint of black olive earthiness.

Palate: Concentrated and lush with soft silky tannins and a wonderful length carrying spice and rounded finish.

Ageing: 5-10 years
